About

At Ceramicas, we have a deep passion for the unique and playful charm of Mediterranean ceramics. We carefully select our pieces from small workshops in central-west Portugal and northern Italy — two regions where ceramic craftsmanship has been passed down through generations.

In Portugal, we are inspired by the bold colors, expressive brushstrokes, and joyful motifs that bring warmth and character to everyday objects. In Italy, we are drawn to the refined balance between tradition and elegance, where form, proportion, and detail are central to the craft. Together, these traditions create a collection that feels both vibrant and timeless.

The ceramics are made using traditional molds, some of which date back to the workshops’ grandparents. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted and hand-painted, embodying the distinctive spirit of Mediterranean warmth and color. Because of the artisanal process, no two pieces are exactly alike — making each one truly special.

Our story and mission

Our mission is to bring a touch of Mediterranean warmth, color, and character into Nordic homes. We believe that everyday objects should not only be functional, but also joyful and full of personality. By introducing Portuguese and Italian ceramics to Nordic tables and interiors, we aim to create a small but meaningful bridge between southern craftsmanship and northern living.

We work closely with small, local workshops in both Portugal and Italy, where ceramic traditions are deeply rooted in culture and daily life. Rather than mass-produced items, we seek out pieces that tell a story — of place, of people, and of time. Every product in our collection is handcrafted, ensuring that what you receive is not just an object, but a piece of living craft.

By choosing only handmade ceramics, we support traditional artisans in both countries and help preserve techniques that might otherwise disappear. This commitment to craftsmanship and authenticity is at the heart of everything we do at Ceramicas.

The people behind Ceramicas

Ceramicas was founded by two young parents with a shared passion for ceramics, design, and slow living. What began as a love for beautifully made objects soon grew into a desire to share that passion with others and to make handcrafted ceramics more accessible in the Nordic countries.

We love to travel and are endlessly curious about how people live, eat, and decorate across cultures. Our journeys often lead us to small workshops in Portugal and Italy, hidden streets, and local markets, where we find inspiration in both contemporary craft and timeworn treasures. These experiences shape our eye for detail and our appreciation for imperfect, soulful objects.

Equally important to us is the love of learning — about materials, techniques, history, and the stories behind each piece. Ceramicas is not just a webshop, but a reflection of our way of seeing the world: with curiosity, care, and respect for craftsmanship.
